Peter is recognized by his peers as one of the top litigators in Canada. He has extensive experience in complex cross-border litigation, especially as it relates to class proceedings and insolvency and restructuring. He regularly advises the boards of national and multinational companies. He also represents clients in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings and acts as an arbitrator in commercial disputes. Peter is Past President of The Advocates’ Society, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and Past Chair of its Ontario Province Committee. Peter is constantly sought out as an expert speaker on advocacy, shareholder disputes, class actions, professional liability and insolvency and restructuring. Peter has been recognized with the prestigious Law Society Medal for his precedent-setting decisions, exceptional advocacy, unwavering commitment to education and mentorship, and involvement in positively advancing the legal profession and broader community. In 2023, Peter received the honorary title of King’s Counsel.
On November 30, 2018, Essar Steel Algoma Inc. (“ESAI”) concluded its comprehensive restructuring under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act by way of the sale of substantially all of its assets to Algoma Steel Inc. (“ASI”).
