Ian Mak is a partner in the Financial Services Group in Toronto. He has a corporate practice specializing in all aspects of leveraged finance, banking, and secured lending. Ian is a key advisor to Canadian banks and other major international institutional lenders and alternative capital providers in the negotiation and structuring of corporate and commercial credit facilities. In addition, he regularly acts for industry-leading private equity funds, alternative asset managers and other financial sponsors in the negotiation and structuring of complex debt arrangements in connection with leveraged buyouts, recapitalization transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and other strategic investments across diversified sectors including technology and infrastructure. Ian also has a deep understanding of the Canadian and US credit markets and regularly advises on complex cross-border transactions. Ian received his BBA (Business Administration) from Simon Fraser University in 2004 and his JD from Osgoode Hall in 2007. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association. Within the firm, he is a member of the Professional Resources Committee responsible for the development, support and management of the firm’s Business Law associates.
