Barry Gamache focuses on trademark law. He has practised in this field for more than three decades. He has been named several times over the years among the best lawyers in Canada in the field of intellectual property by The Best Lawyers in Canada publication. He has been involved in numerous disputes that have had impact on trademark law. His practice focuses on, but is not limited to, disputes concerning trademark law, for the most part, before the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal. He is the author of several articles on topics of interest relating to trademarks. He is one of the editors of the Canadian Trade-Marks Act Annotated. Outside the office, he was a lecturer at Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Law where he was involved with the moot court program from 1998 to 2021. He is an active litigator. He has represented clients before various courts including the Court of Appeal of Quebec, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also participated in numerous hearings before the Opposition Board of the Trademarks Office. Several rulings in cases argued by him have had an impact in trademark law and are now relied upon by the legal community.
