On November 16, 2017, Encore Consumer Capital (Encore), a US-based private equity firm that invests exclusively in leading consumer products companies, completed the sale of Atlantic Aqua Farms (AAF) and its affiliated entities to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Ontario Teachers’). AAF is the largest grower of live mussels in North America and offers a wide selection of oysters, clams and live Maine and Canadian lobster.
On March 31, 2015, Cable & Wireless Communications PLC (CWC) completed its US$3.025-billion purchase of Columbus International Inc. (Columbus). Prior to closing, Columbus was a privately held diversified telecommunications company based in Barbados, providing digital cable television, broadband Internet and digital landline telephony in Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia and Curacao under the brand name Flow, and in Antigua under the brand name Karib Cable.
NRG Energy, Inc., acquired Pure Energies Group Inc. The value of the transaction was undisclosed.
Emera Incorporated, through its subsidiary NSP Maritime Link Incorporated, completed a $1.3 billion bond financing in support of the $1.56 billion Maritime Link Project. The Maritime Link Project involves the development, construction and commissioning of both, a new 500MW HVdc transmission line, as well as a 230kV HVac line and associated infrastructure, between the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Province of Nova Scotia.
