Oatley Vigmond Personal Injury Lawyers LLP

Oatley Vigmond Personal Injury Lawyers LLP

Oatley Vigmond was established in 2002 as a partnership dedicated to advocating for plaintiffs. This partnership followed Jim Vigmond's joining of the firm in 1993. The firm’s origins date back to 1974, when Roger Oatley founded Oatley Purser.

Today, Oatley Vigmond is a trusted leader in personal injury law, recognized for our commitment to excellence and compassionate advocacy. As one of Ontario’s top personal injury firms, we have built a strong reputation for providing high-quality legal counsel and achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Our team has grown to include 16 lawyers and over 80 support staff, dedicated to representing individuals with complex cases such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, catastrophic injuries, and serious orthopedic injuries. Many of our lawyers, including partners Jim Vigmond, Troy Lehman, Robert Durante, Liane Brown, Adam Little, Karen Vigmond, Kevin Henderson, Brian Cameron, and Ben Irantalab, have been recognized in the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada.

Beyond legal representation, we are dedicated to treating our clients with compassion, respect, and support during life’s most difficult challenges. We are dedicated to securing the full and fair compensation our clients rightfully deserve.

Oatley Vigmond holds the record for securing the largest spinal cord injury judgment in Canadian history, obtaining over $24 million in joint damages.

A Legacy of Leadership & Legal Excellence

The partners of Oatley Vigmond strive to maintain their position as leaders in the field. Jim and Brian are both past presidents of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association. Troy Lehman, a leading expert litigator, is set to announce the release of the third edition of Addressing the Jury: Achieving Fair Verdicts in Personal Injury Cases, co-authored with former partner, Roger Oatley, who originally started the series. This book is the only one of its kind in Canada, teaching trial lawyers how to successfully present a personal injury jury trial.

Both Troy and Jim are Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a prestigious distinction awarded to trial lawyers who maintain the highest ethical and professional standards.

Queen's Law School welcomed Jim as an adjunct professor, where he pioneered and taught Canada's inaugural course in Personal Injury Advocacy, now led by Brian.
