Ahsan Mirza is one of the key members of McMillan’s PPP, infrastructure, and project finance groups. He acts as the lead partner or co-lead partner on complex infrastructure transactions. He has extensive experience in the climate finance, cleantech, and renewable energy sectors, as well as transportation, healthcare, and social infrastructure sectors. He is currently lead counsel to the Canada Infrastructure Bank on the bank’s $5-billion building retrofits initiative and has led several financing transactions under the initiative. He has also acted as lead counsel to developers and lenders on various solar, wind, hydroelectric, battery storage, biomass, biogas, cogeneration, and other renewable energy project financings. In addition to in-depth knowledge of the Ontario, BC, and Alberta PPP models, he has extensive experience in major federal infrastructure projects, municipal PPP projects, and First Nations investments in renewable energy projects. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law teaching JD and LLM courses on the law and policy of public-private partnerships.
