Alyssa Tomkins is a bilingual partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. She is a member of the Advocacy Group and her practice focuses on public law and corporate/commercial litigation and arbitration, as well as appeals and judicial reviews. Alyssa has argued cases as lead counsel at all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, the British Columbia Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and the SCC. She has acted on disputes involving corporate and commercial law, shareholder rights, professional liability, class actions, trusts and real property, insolvency, as well as all aspects of constitutional and administrative law. Alyssa is currently teaching administrative law as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and taught appellate advocacy for ten years at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Common Law as coach of the Laskin Moot (constitutional and administrative law) team. She is the past chair of The Advocates' Society Regulatory and Administrative Law Practice Group. Alyssa clerked for the Honourable Michel Bastarache at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2007–2008. She has been recognized in both The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada and was named a Benchmark Litigation Canada Future Star in 2020–2022.
