Anna has an impressively broad range of insurance expertise, and she is widely recognized by British, US and domestic insurers for her depth of knowledge of the industry and Canadian insurance law. Anna’s distinguished litigation practice includes complex specialty, environmental, product-liability, engineers, sexual-abuse, and professional-negligence disputes. She has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, as well as the Superior Court of other provinces. Also, she co-argued an appeal of a cross-border coverage dispute before the Supreme Court of Canada. When settlement is preferred, however, Anna is adept at dispute resolution through mediation, arbitration or negotiation. Often, Anna is retained by insurers to render coverage advice (at the primary, excess and reinsurance tiers) in areas such as professional indemnity, D & O, construction, environmental, sexual abuse, and general CGL. She also monitors complex claims, drafts coverage-position letters and directs ongoing investigations and coverage litigation. Sometimes, she advises in the context of class proceedings, in which complex, multi-layered insurance is in play. Anna speaks, regularly, at industry and client seminars, and she is the founding author of Blaneys’ Coffee House, a popular insurance newsletter.
