Brett Stewart is a partner in McMillan’s Toronto office with a cross-border transactional practice focused on assisting domestic and foreign clients with negotiated transactions including private equity and venture capital investments, buy-outs, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate reorganizations. As chairwoman of the American Bar Association’s private equity and venture capital committee, she possesses a strong understanding of the North American market and assists US entities making inbound investments into Canada. Her work spans a number of industries with particular experience in agri/food, technology, aerospace/defence, manufacturing, and transportation. She co-authors Canadian chapter of the Global Legal Group’s International Comparative Legal Guide to Private Equity. Previously, she acted as adjunct faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, teaching business associations. She has been identified as a rising star by both Lexpert magazine and IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate Guide.
