Carole Chouinard is a bilingual partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. She advises clients on the tax aspects of transactions, including share and asset sales of corporations and reorganizations of corporations, the structuring and formation of corporations, trusts, partnerships and tax-exempt entities, and estate planning. Her clients include both domestic and foreign corporations, individuals in and out of Canada, as well as tax-exempt entities. She has experience in structuring business ventures and transactions for both taxable and tax-exempt entities. She is also a co-leader of the firm's charities and not-for-profit organizations group and advises tax-exempt organizations, as well as donors, on matters pertaining to tax and corporate law. She has taught tax law at the University of Ottawa and has several years of experience as a rulings officer with the income tax rulings and interpretations directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency. She has been recognized in Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert®Directory, and the International Tax Review: Women in Tax Leaders. She received the Best Lawyers® 2022 Trusts and Estates "Lawyer of the Year" award in Ottawa and was similarly recognized in the field of Tax Law in 2023.
On May 1, 2015, Chorus Aviation Inc. acquired Voyageur Airways, a private company based in North Bay, Ontario. Voyageur is a Transport Canada approved air operator and an integrated provider of specialized aviation services, including contract flying operations both internationally and domestically, and offers advanced engineering and maintenance capabilities.
