Casey Chisick is certified by the LSO as a Specialist in Intellectual Property Law (Copyright) and is the first lawyer from outside the US to be elected President of the Copyright Society (2022–2024). His practice includes entertainment and media, intellectual property, communications, and brand management, with particular expertise in the collective administration of copyright. Casey acts as transactional and litigation counsel to clients in music, film, TV, animation, broadcasting, higher education, theatre, publishing, fashion, visual arts, advertising, and new media, as well as other businesses with IP needs. He has appeared as counsel in seven appeals to the Supreme Court of Canada and in proceedings at various levels of court, the Competition Tribunal, and the Copyright Board of Canada. Casey is recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Global, Best Lawyers in Canada, and Who’s Who Legal, among others, and was named Copyright Practitioner of the Year (Canada) by Managing Intellectual Property in 2020, 2022, and 2023. He serves on committees of the ABA, INTA, and IPIC, and is a founding advisory board member of IP Osgoode.
