Cathy is a partner in the firm’s Business Law Group and Technology Group in Calgary. Her diverse practice focuses on complex M&A and commercial transactions, including acquisitions and divestitures, reorganizations, private equity, general corporate matters, strategic projects, procurement and outsourcing transactions. Cathy is a highly regarded corporate lawyer who acts for both public and private companies and is sought after to get deals done. She has extensive experience acting on cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions, including numerous Canadian market entry deals on behalf of foreign companies. Cathy acts for Canadian and international clients in the energy, telecommunications, technology, retail, real estate, cannabis, financial services and healthcare industries. She is a member of the Law Society of Alberta; Law Society of British Columbia; Canadian Bar Association; and Calgary Bar Association.
On February 13, 2007, Harbinger Capital Partners Master Fund I, Ltd. and Harbinger Capital Partners Special Situations Fund, L.P. through their indirect wholly owned subsidiary HCP Acquisition Inc. (together, Harbinger) acquired all of the outstanding trust units of Calpine Power Income Fund (the fund) it did not already own at a price of $13.00 per trust unit for total consideration of approximately $760 million.
