Chris Horkins is a partner in the Litigation Group at Cassels and a key member of the firm’s Franchise Law team. His broad commercial litigation practice includes expertise in franchise law, product liability, securities litigation, and class actions. He regularly acts for franchisors in disputes including arbitrations and class proceedings. Among other achievements, Chris was co-counsel to the successful franchisor in Raibex Canada Ltd. v. ASWR Franchising Corp., one of the leading appellate decisions on the rescission of franchise agreements under the Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000. Chris is a past co-chair of the Canadian Franchise Association’s Franchise Law Day and the Ontario Bar Association’s Annual Franchise Law Conference and a regular speaker at these and other events. Chris has been recognized for franchise law expertise in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Who’s Who Legal. He has also been recognized as a Future Star and top litigator under 40 by Benchmark Litigation Canada and in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for commercial litigation and was recently recognized as a leading litigator in Lexpert Special Edition – Litigation for 2022.
