Chris Tzekas focuses on administrative law and civil litigation, with an emphasis on municipal and expropriation law, land use planning, and development. He represents provincial ministries, municipalities, and a wide range of private clients. He has worked on major infrastructure projects throughout the province, such as the extension of the subway into York Region, the establishment of a new 500kv transmission corridor from Bruce to Milton, and the redevelopment of many downtown cores, such as the City of Brantford’s. Tzekas appears regularly before the Ontario Land Tribunal and other administrative tribunals, councils, and committees. He has appeared at every level of court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He is past president of the Ontario Expropriation Association. Tzekas has authored many papers and is a frequent speaker on expropriation, land use planning, and development law. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada as Toronto’s “Expropriation Lawyer of the Year” in 2018, 2021, and 2023.
