Dirk is a partner in the Firm’s Construction Group. He is experienced in disputes involving extras claims, construction deficiencies, construction liens, construction bonds, other contract security and surety products, industrial projects, procurement, and insurance. He also provides general and transactional advice to general contractors, sureties, and other participants in the construction industry, and also practises in the areas of defamation, electoral law, and lobbyist regulation. Dirk is co-author of Guide to Builders’ Liens in British Columbia and is on the editorial board of the British Columbia Builders Liens Practice Manual. He was a member of the Builders Lien Act Reform Committee of the BC Law Institute, and in July 2020 with the other members of the committee produced BCLI Report no. 89 on the Builders Lien Act. He has served on the Federal Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee for British Columbia. He speaks and publishes regularly on construction law matters and was a faculty member of the Osgoode Hall Certificate in Construction Law (Western Canadian Edition) program. Dirk received his law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1995 and is a member of the Bar of British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
