Dominic Bédard-Lapointe is a tax litigation partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s National Tax Group. His practice focuses on tax-related disputes specific to large corporate groups undergoing complex corporate reorganizations, as well as the application of the general anti-avoidance rule. He also acted in several complicated SR&ED tax incentive claims and represented large corporations in large transfer pricing audits. Dominic has developed technical tax skills working at a national law firm in transactional tax law, and gained massive tax litigation experience working at the Department of Justice, providing him with a unique perspective that adds to his ability to develop efficient litigation strategies. As a determined lawyer known for his analytical skills, Dominic teaches in the Master’s in taxation program at HEC Montréal, the same program he completed at the beginning of his career. He has had several articles published, including in the leading publication on Canadian tax disputes (Tax Disputes in Canada: The Path Forward, 2022), and is a sought-after speaker in the tax community. He notably presented at the 2023 annual conferences of the APFF, CTF and TEI. Dominic was called to the Quebec Bar in 2011.
