Dorothy Charach is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Litigation Group in Toronto. Her broad practice includes commercial litigation, professional liability, product liability, class actions, and defamation. Dorothy has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, as well as the Ontario Health Professions Appeal and Review Board. She has significant trial experience, including acting for physicians in several professional liability cases tried by jury and by judge alone. She has also acted as appellate counsel on multiple medical negligence cases. She frequently acts for defendants in class action matters, including pharmaceutical and medical device companies, food and beverage companies, and financial institutions. She is a co-leader of McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Health Industry Group. Dorothy also teaches regularly, including medical malpractice at Queen’s University Faculty of Law and Trial Advocacy at Osgoode Hall Law School, as well as giving guest lectures at the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Professional Development programs in the area of medical negligence. She is a graduate of Western University (BA Hons) and Osgoode Hall Law School (JD) and was called to the Ontario bar in 2012.
