Étienne Guertin is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law Group in Montreal. His practice focuses on corporate financing, banking law, projects financing and infrastructure law. Étienne represents borrowers, lenders and financial institutions, guiding his clients through the taking of security and the implementation of a variety of credit facility types. Along with this work, he supports energy, mining and infrastructure sponsors and private developers with the development, financing and operation of projects. Étienne’s recent transactions include working with a team representing Desjardins in a $350 million financing to Alliance de l’Énergie de l’Est in connection with its efforts to build and operate wind farm projects, and with a team representing Canada Infrastructure Bank in financings representing a total investment of approximately $1.6 billion in the Réseau Express Métropolitain light rail project. He was also involved in the acquisition by CDPQ of a 50% interest in the A25 Concession from Transurban for $355 million. He is listed in Best Lawyers in Canada’s Ones to Watch - Banking and Finance Law category. Étienne was called to the Quebec bar in 2012.
