François Viau is a partner in Gowling WLG's Montréal office, practising in bankruptcy and insolvency, real estate law, banking, and commercial litigation. François is particularly well known as a trusted advisor to major retail landlords in insolvency files. François is the leader of the Montréal Restructuring, Bankruptcy & Insolvency Practice Group. He is also a member of the Liaison Committee for the Commercial Division of the Québec Superior Court. François also regularly represents financial institutions and private lenders with respect to restructuring matters, enforcement of security, as well as trustees in bankruptcy, creditors, and debtors on various insolvency-related issues. In addition, François is a frequent speaker and author in banking, insolvency, and real estate law. In addition to his appearance among Canada's leading lawyers (Insolvency Litigation) in The Canadian Lexpert® Directory, François has also been recognized in Best Lawyers™ in Canada and Benchmark Canada.
