Geneviève Cloutier is the leader of Gowling WLG's Canadian Restructuring & Insolvency Group and a bilingual partner in the firm's Montreal office. Her practice is primarily focused on insolvency and restructuring, distressed acquisitions, and banking and commercial litigation. Geneviève regularly represents financial institutions and private lenders with respect to the enforcement of security agreements and personal guarantees, the negotiation of standstill agreements, and various insolvency-related issues. She has been involved in matters related to corporate reorganizations, arrangements, bankruptcies, receiverships, and other forms of liquidation of assets. She has acted for debtors, lenders, purchasers, secured and unsecured creditors, and directors as well as various accounting firms in their capacity as trustees, monitors, and receivers. She frequently appears before the Superior Court and the Court of Appeal of Quebec and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. Geneviève has taught priorities and security enforcement at the Quebec Bar School (École du Barreau du Québec) for over 10 years. She has been recognized in both The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada.
