George Plummer is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Real Property and Planning Group in Toronto as well as a New York-called foreign legal consultant. His practice focuses on real estate (including financing), secured lending and project finance and capital markets. Having moved to Toronto after three years of practice at a major New York law firm, George has extensive experience in the real estate sphere, having represented several multinational banks and other lending institutions in mezzanine and mortgage financing transactions. Since joining McCarthy Tétrault, George has been involved in a number of complex transactions, including representing a group of pension funds, as co-lenders, for a US$625 million acquisition facility in connection with the acquisition by a US private equity fund of an industrial property portfolio in the Greater Toronto Area. He also acted for a syndicate led by Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in providing $325 million credit facilities to Revera Inc. As a skilled lawyer, George is listed in the Ones to Watch: Real Estate Law category by Best Lawyers in Canada. He was called to the New York Bar in 2014 and the Ontario Bar in 2017.
