Gillian Kerr is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Litigation Group in Toronto. Clients trust Gillian with the most complex and highest stakes cases. Her practice focuses on class actions, privacy and defamation law, technology, public sector and complex commercial disputes. Gillian represents clients in the tech industry, multinational corporations, media entities and high-profile political figures. Her experience includes defending Meta/Facebook/Instagram in the teen mental health class actions, defending Facebook in the Federal Privacy Commissioner’s application arising from the Cambridge Analytica cases; defending Uber in numerous class actions; and defending CBC during a 13-week jury trial focused on defamation and invasion of privacy allegations. Gillian has appeared before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and various regulatory bodies. She was recognized as a Future Star by Benchmark Litigation Canada.
