Partner in Tax Group of BLG’s Toronto office. In her taxation of investment funds practice, Grace advises both investment funds and their managers and sub-advisers. She has been involved in structuring new investment products, restructurings, acquisitions, and wind-ups of investment funds, and with advising on the taxation of registered plans. Grace also advises taxpayers in disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency, including acting for taxpayers in respect of transfer pricing disputes. She is a member of taxation working groups at the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, the Canadian ETF Association, and the Portfolio Management Association of Canada. In her taxation of executive compensation practice, Grace is involved in all aspects of the design and implementation of tax-effective executive compensation plans for public and private employers.
On April 10, 2015, Cara Operations Ltd., Canada’s largest full service restaurant company, completed its $200 million initial public offering. Cara sold 8.7 million subordinate voting shares for $23 each and now trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol CAO.
