Specializing in construction law, Guy Gilain has considerable experience in litigation and in drafting contractual documents. His clients include owners, developers, general and specialized contractors and equipment suppliers. He represents national and multinational companies, and various construction industry associations. Mr. Gilain acts as chair of the Construction Group in Miller Thomson's Montreal office. He provides advice on issues regarding construction contracts, including negotiating, drafting, financing and handling claims, expense management or administrative management matters for all types of construction projects, including major civic works, commercial and industrial buildings, residential complexes and infrastructures. Mr. Gilain has represented clients resolving serious disputes by mediation or arbitration, and has occasionally acted as arbitrator and mediator. He has been a member of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers for 10 years and sits on its Board of Directors. This year, he is president of the associate members of Association des Constructeurs de Routes et Grands Travaux du Québec and member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
