Heba Al-Shakarchi is counsel in McCarthy Tétrault’s Financial Services Group in Toronto. Her practice focuses on lending and secured financing, with particular attention to project finance and the power and infrastructure sectors. Heba is a skilled lawyer with experience representing a number of clients on a variety of domestic and international financing transactions. She has advised Canadian and foreign sponsors, project companies and financial institutions. Her recent transactions include acting for the Canada Infrastructure Bank in connection with its investment in the Oneida battery storage project (among the largest in the world), and representing the lender syndicate in connection with the $700+ million financing of a major Ontario power producer’s Latin American regulated distribution utility. Heba regularly shares her professional experience by discussing lending and market trends on a variety of panels. She is also on the board of Toronto’s Banking Together, an industry initiative supporting those identifying as women or non-binary in commercial financial services. She was called to the England and Wales Bar in 2012 and the Ontario Bar in 2017.
