A full-breadth labour and employment practitioner, Jack Siegel dedicates much of his practice to workers’ compensation matters, representing employers and workers in all aspects of the field, appearing before Workplace Safety & Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) adjudicators. In conjunction with his firm’s Insurance Defence Group, he acts on personal injury defence cases relating to the loss of the right to sue where recourse should instead be to WSIB benefits. Jack was a founding member of the WSIAT Tribunal Counsel Office in 1985. He also appears on Occupational Health and Safety Act prosecutions, Labour Relations Board matters, grievance arbitrations, Employment Standards Act hearings, coroners' inquests, wrongful dismissal actions, judicial review applications, and restrictive covenant injunction applications. Recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada since 2008 for workers’ compensation law, and a former Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the OBA, Jack is also highly accomplished counsel on election and political law, acting for elected members, candidates, and political parties at all levels of government on regulatory and electoral matters, and appears on judicial recounts of election results across the country.
