Jacob is Of counsel to Donovan Kochman LLP, a boutique law firm focused on estate and trusts litigation in Ontario. Jacob represents clients on all estates and trusts matters, including will challenges/interpretations, dependant’s support claims, trust claims, contested applications to pass accounts, and the removal of trustee(s). He also represents clients in capacity litigation, including contested powers of attorney and guardianship litigation. His clients include individuals, government agencies, and trust companies. He has acted as section 3 counsel and as an ETDL. Jacob has written articles for numerous publications and has presented to professional groups including The Advocates’ Society, the Estate Planners’ Council of Halton, the Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Ontario. He served as the chair of The Advocates’ Society Estates Litigation Practice Group and has been recognized by 2023’s edition of Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of trusts and estates, and by Chambers and Partners’ 2022 High Net Worth Guide rankings for Private Wealth Disputes. Jacob has appeared before various levels of court, including the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal.
