Jacqueline M. Demczur joined Carters Professional Corporation in 2001 and became a partner in 2007. Her practice is exclusively focused in the areas of charity and not-for-profit law, including incorporation, charitable status applications, corporate governance and restructuring, establishment of churches and religious denominations, international operations, gift planning, endowment and restricted fund agreements, legal risk management reviews, charity pre-audit reviews and audit submissions to CRA, and advising directors of charities and not-for-profits. Mrs. Demczur has been recognized as a leading expert in charity and not-for-profit law by Lexpert and Best Lawyers in Canada. Mrs. Demczur is a member of the Charity & Not-for-Profit Section of the OBA, a contributing author to the Primer for Directors of Not-for-Profit Corporations published by Industry Canada, and has written various articles on charity and not-for-profit legal issues, including directors’ and officers’ liability, incorporation, risk management and donor advised funds for The Lawyers Daily, The Philanthropist, Charitable Thoughts and www.carters.ca. Mrs. Demczur has also been an invited speaker for the CBA and various other organizations on various topics related to charities and not-for-profits.
