Jim is consistently recognized as leading counsel in complex litigation and class actions. He has been named Canada’s Class Action Litigator of Year and one of “the very best trial lawyers in all of Canada”. Jim has appeared as counsel in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, and before the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also appeared as Canadian counsel in many international matters including court appearances in the United States, Australia and Brazil. Jim was appointed Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) by the Attorney General of British Columbia in 2017. Jim has been recognized as “the dean of the B.C. product liability and class action bars.” Jim represents clients in numerous major corporate commercial, class action, energy, contaminated site, regulatory offence, constitutional and product liability cases. Jim has authored or co-authored five books on a variety of legal issues and many other legal publications. He has presented on legal issues in many locations in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
