Jeff is a litigation partner with a background in engineering and earth sciences. He practises exclusively in the energy, utility and natural resource sectors. He represents clients before regulatory tribunals such as the BC Oil and Gas Commission and the Alberta Utilities Commission. He also advises clients on regulatory and legislative reform initiatives; cross-border natural resource development; and related litigation and dispute resolution. Jeff has taught public utility regulation at the UBC law school, in 2009 he served on BC’s Green Energy Advisory Task Force, and in 2013 he was named Energy Regulatory Law Lawyer of the Year in Vancouver by Best Lawyers. Recently, Jeff has been a member of the Canadian delegation that is negotiating a modernized Columbia River Treaty with the United States. Jeff is called to the Bars of British Columbia (1994), the Northwest Territories (2001), and Alberta (2014). He is the head of the Regulatory Litigation Department at Lawson Lundell.
On July 26, 2018, Teck Resources Ltd. (Teck) completed the sale of its remaining two-thirds interest in the Waneta Hydroelectric Generating Facility to BC Hydro (BC Hydro) for $1.2B.
