In his more than 50-year career, John Rook has assisted clients in developing practical and innovative strategies for prosecuting and defending civil, criminal and administrative proceedings, and responding to regulatory investigations. He has been engaged in complex litigation throughout his career and has appeared before the Competition Tribunal, the Federal Court Trial division and the Federal Court of Appeal, several provincial courts of appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has represented the Commissioner of Competition on numerous occasions and acted as counsel before the Competition Tribunal and the Federal Court of Appeal in the largest merger in Canadian history. He has also represented clients in matters relating to negligence and products liability claims, contracts, class actions, claims against directors and officers, energy, public utilities boards, telecommunications and broadcasting, among others.
