John Downing has a diverse and robust commercial litigation practice with a wide range of experience in injunctions, shareholder and partnership disputes, economic torts, contract disputes, negligence actions, construction and leasing disputes, dealership and franchise disputes, and debt collection. John has appeared as trial and appellate counsel at all levels of the Ontario court system. He also frequently acts in disputes proceeding through private mediation and arbitration, which has become a common method of dealing with commercial disputes. John has an undergraduate degree in mathematics (University of Waterloo, 1988) and a law degree (University of Western Ontario, 1996) where he graduated as the silver medalist. John has taught advocacy as an adjunct professor and tutorial instructor at the University of Western Ontario.
