Jonathan Liteplo is recognized as a leading practitioner in energy and utilities regulation. His practice focuses on representing proponents, owners/operators and users of energy and utility infrastructure before regulatory authorities and the courts. He represents clients in relation to utility tolls and tariffs, performance-based rate regulation, energy infrastructure permitting, environmental assessment, land use planning, and electricity generating and transmission facilities. Liteplo's clients include owners of regulated electricity, water and wastewater facilities, owners of power generating facilities, energy transporters and shippers, buyers and owners under power purchase arrangements, regulated and unregulated retailers of electricity and natural gas services, energy marketers, energy importers/exporters, developers of energy infrastructure, and vendors and purchasers of energy and utility infrastructure. SNC-Lavalin announced that it had reached financial close on the sale of its 100-per cent interest in AltaLink, Alberta's largest regulated energy transmission company, to Berkshire Hathaway Energy (Berkshire). This follows the receipt of regulatory approvals from the Alberta Utilities Commission and approvals pursuant to the Competition Act and Investment Canada Act. Based on the terms of the agreement, the transaction values AltaLink at approximately $7.2 billion and will result in gross proceeds to SNC-Lavalin of approximately $3.1 billion.
