Kary B. Hargreaves’ practice includes all matters relating to wills, estate planning, estate administration, and trusts. Kary has extensive experience in assisting clients with the successful transfer of their wealth to family members and charitable organizations. He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1982 and has more than 35 years of experience in the wills, estates and trust area. Kary is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Estate Planning Council of Edmonton, the Canadian Tax Foundation, as well as the Wills, Estates and Trusts and Elder Law sections of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA). He was a co-editor and assisted with the creation of the Legal Education Society of Alberta (LESA) Estate Administration Practice Manual. Kary is an author and frequent lecturer on various wills, estates, and estate planning topics for STEP, the CBA, LESA, charitable and religious organizations, accountants, as well as financial institutions and insurance companies. He has been consistently recognized as a leading practitioner in the wills and personal tax planning area of the law and was named Best Lawyers’ Edmonton Trusts and Estates "Lawyer of the Year" in 2017 and 2011. Kary was appointed King's Counsel in 2012.
