Kate McGrann's litigation practice includes complex corporate/commercial, securities and administrative and public law issues. Kate is ranked as a leading litigator by Lexpert, Benchmark Litigation, and Best Lawyers. In 2021, she received the Lexpert Rising Star Award which recognizes leading lawyers under the age of 40 across Canada. From 2018–2022, Benchmark Litigation named Kate as one of the top litigation lawyers under 40 in Canada. Kate acts regularly on investigations and proceedings before the OSC and CIRO. In 2017–2018, Kate served as Senior Enforcement Counsel in the Enforcement Branch of the Ontario Securities Commission on a secondment. In that role, she represented Staff in numerous enforcement matters, including prosecuting allegations of unregistered trading, illegal distributions, and fraud, and advising on confidential investigations. Kate also has significant expertise in public inquiries. She served as lead inquiry counsel on the Town of Collingwood Judicial Inquiry, and as co-lead commission counsel on the Ontario COVID-19 Long-Term Care Commission, and the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Commission. Kate is currently serving as Commission Counsel to the Public Inquiry into Foreign Interference in Federal Electoral Processes and Democratic Institutions.
