Kate McNeece is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Competition/Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group in Toronto. Kate’s expertise in competition law includes guiding clients through complex merger reviews and civil investigations, and advising on all aspects of competition law compliance including those concerning abuse of dominance, marketing and advertising matters, and criminal matters. She also advises clients on foreign investment merger reviews under theInvestment Canada Act with emphasis on national security mandates. Recent matters include advising Zijin Mining Group Co. on its $1.4 billion agreement to acquire Continental Gold Inc.; Facebook in relation to the Commissioner of Competition’s deceptive marketing investigation into privacy matters; Parkland Corp. on its acquisition of Husky retail gas stations from Cenovus Energy Inc.; and Shandong Gold Mining Co. on its now-terminated proposed acquisition of TMAC Resources Inc. Kate is a frequent writer and speaker on competition law topics and a host of the CBA Competition and Foreign Investment Section’s podcast, Counterfactual. She was called to the New York Bar in 2014 and the Ontario Bar in 2015.
