Katie Stys is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office. Since articling with the firm in 2008, Katie has developed an extensive civil litigation practice with an emphasis on health law and medical defence, professional regulation, professional liability, insurance litigation and commercial litigation. She represents the interests of physicians, psychologists, physiotherapists, engineers and other professionals, as well as companies, including natural resource developers and utilities. She frequently represents her clients’ interests before all levels of court in Alberta as well as regulatory bodies. Within the firm, Katie regularly acts as a mentor. She is the co-chair of the GROW national steering committee, as well as the GROW committee chair for the Calgary office, which is the firm’s professional network for women and non-binary people to support the advancement of their business, career and personal development goals. Katie also serves as a firm representative on a nationwide group that serves to improve client wellness. She has been recognized in both The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada.
