Kavina is a Certified Specialist in Estates & Trusts, qualified by the Law Society of Ontario and the founding partner of NIKA LAW LLP, a boutique Wills, Estates & Elder law firm in the Greater Toronto Area. She is also a qualified TEP (Trust & Estate Practitioner) recognized by the Global Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). On the planning side, Kavina often deals with multiple Will plans, blended families, inter–vivos and testamentary trusts and with estates that involve various complexities. She also is an experienced advisor to both Estate Trustees and Attorneys for Property and Personal Care — helping fiduciaries stay on track and within the boundaries of these important roles. Since 2018, Kavina has been an executive member of the CBA Elder Law Section. This position and her former Board position for the CNPEA (Canadian Network for Prevention) has contributed to her strong personal desire to effect change for seniors and to protect their interests, rights and autonomy. With our now aging demographic, Kavina deals both in and out of the courtroom with complex family situations which may involve: financial elder abuse, power of attorney issues, mental capacity, guardianship, disputes involving multiple executors, Will challenges, and dependent’s relief claims.
