Ken Hanbidge, a partner in Gowling WLG's Waterloo Region office and a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Urban Development Group, focuses his practice on commercial real estate and corporate commercial law. He advises institutional and private lenders with respect to real estate and corporate commercial loans, as well as mortgage enforcement. Ken also advises developers, builders and real estate investors, providing practical business advice on property purchases, sales and development. Ken counsels small and medium-sized businesses on a wide range of legal matters, including incorporations, M&A, sales, and reorganizations. Ken’s key leadership roles in the community have included President of Rotary Club of Kitchener-Grand River, Board member of Hospice of Waterloo Region, Board member of Renison University College, member of University of Waterloo’s Co-op Advisory Committee and member of the City of Waterloo's Economic Development Committee as well as its Audit Committee. With over three decades of experience, Ken has been repeatedly recognized in both The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers and named an Acritas Star. Notably, Ken received the Best Lawyers Canada 2023 Banking & Finance Law “Lawyer of the Year” award in the Waterloo Region.
