Kevin McGivney is the Toronto regional leader of BLG's Insurance and Tort Liability Group. He is an elected member of BLG's Partnership Board. Kevin practises civil litigation with a focus on municipal and police liability. Has appeared as lead counsel before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He represents municipalities, police services, and their insurers with respect to all types of liability claims including defamation and class actions. Kevin also represents municipalities and police services at coroner's inquests and before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and advises insurers and defends insureds regarding property and casualty claims, the drafting of insurance policies, and coverage issues. He is a frequent writer and speaker on issues related to municipal and government liability, police liability, occupiers' liability, and advocacy issues. Kevin received an LLB from Western University, Faculty of Law. Bachelor of Arts (History), King's University College of Western University. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1991.
