Kwan T. Loh, Principal in Smart & Biggar’s Vancouver office, regularly handles a wide range of matters across the trademark life cycle. His solicitor practice focuses on trademark clearance, filing, prosecuting trademark applications with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, and trademark portfolio strategy and management in Canada and around the world. Additionally, by drawing on over a decade of experience in litigation and contentious trademark matters, he can proactively identify and counsel on potential points of dispute, mitigating risks and unnecessary costs for his clients. He also advises on IP-related contracts including licenses, assignments, and other commercial agreements. He is past chairman of the IP and technology law section of the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch, and a fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC). He is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA). He currently serves as a committee member of the Famous and Well-Known Marks Committee. Previously, he served on the Anti-counterfeiting Committee (2018–2019) and the Trademark Office Practices Committee, Canada (2014–2017).
