Laura has a litigation practice that is dedicated to labour and employment and health law. Shew provides strategic advice to employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, from inception to termination. She works with clients in a variety of industries, including construction, manufacturing, energy, education and information technology. With a focus on managing and mitigating risk, she routinely advises on workplace policies and protocols, contracts, privacy, harassment and workplace violence, human rights and workers compensation issues. Laura also provides management support in investigating workplace harassment and violence complaints. In addition, she advises on labour and employment issues. Laura has represented federally- and provincially-regulated employers before various courts and tribunals. She assists clients with complaints made to the Employment Standards Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner and the Alberta Labour Relations Board. Laura has extensive experience representing physicians in regulatory matters and litigation, including malpractice actions, professional discipline, privileging and privacy issues. She is a board member of the Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society.
