Lori Stein is co-lead of McCarthy Tétrault’s Fintech Group and a partner in the firm’s Business Law Department and Securities Regulatory and Investment Products Group in Toronto. A leading figure in the digital asset space, Lori helps clients navigate legal and regulatory challenges of crypto assets and blockchain infrastructure. She advises Fintech businesses, portfolio managers, dealers, investment fund managers, and institutional investors on Canadian securities regulation, frequently interacting with the Canadian Securities Administrators on behalf of crypto asset trading platforms and other Fintech companies. Her expertise includes securing regulatory approvals for innovative business models and providing guidance on compliance, investigations, audits, and strategic transactions. Lori holds a JD from the University of Toronto, was called to the Ontario bar in 2002, and has completed the Partners, Directors & Officers Exam and Canadian Securities Course. Lori spent a decade in legal and compliance roles in the hedge fund industry before returning to private practice in 2014.
