Luc Deshaies, AdE is a partner in Gowling WLG's Montreal office, practising employment and labour law. Luc has acted before all judicial and administrative tribunals interested in labour matters in Quebec. He has advised employers whose main activities are based in Quebec, but also in Canada and abroad, as part of mergers or transfer matters. He has extensive experience in matters related to “independent contractors” in the context of financial advisors, representing financial institutions with success in front of administrative and civil courts (Court of Appeal, Superior Court, Canada Tax Court and Labour Board). Luc has also represented Aboriginal communities in labour and employment matters in front of federal and provincial labour tribunals. He occasionally represents executives in the negotiation of employment or termination agreements. He is also admitted at Barreau de Paris and has been recognized in Chambers Canada, both Who’s Who Legal: (Global) and (Canada), The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and current Vice President of the International Bar Leaders Senate at Union Internationale des avocats (UIA). He is recognized as an Advocatus Emeritus by the Barreau du Québec.
