Marc Mercier is a senior partner in the Banking & Specialty Finance Group (based in Toronto, Ontario) at Cassels, with a particular emphasis in his practice on secured, unsecured and merger & acquisition financing, treasury and credit risk management, asset-back securitizations, and financial derivatives-related matters, as well as complex domestic and international reorganizational workouts and restructurings. Marc also handles extensive financing work in the energy, venture capital, and private equity areas. He is the co-author of a leading treatise in Canadian banking law area and has written and published extensively in legal journals and texts; speaks frequently at derivatives, secured lending, insolvency and restructuring, and law reform conferences, and risk management and bank seminars. Marc is a past member of the firm's Executive Committee, Chair of the firm’s Audit & Risk Management Committee and is currently the Co-Chair of the Firm’s Private Client Group. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1993 and is a certified Family Enterprise Advisor.
