A Partner in the firm’s National Tax Group in Montreal, Marie-Soleil Landry maintains a practice focused on corporate taxation and strategic tax planning. She analyzes and develops complex strategies in connection with a variety of commercial transactions, including public and private M&As, and cross-border reorganizations. Her experience includes acting as lead tax counsel for National Bank of Canada in its agreement to acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Canadian Western Bank by way of a share exchange valued at C$5 billion, Rio Tinto in its Matalco aluminium recycling joint venture with Giampaolo Group for US$700M and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in its definitive US$6.3 billion agreement to roll over the majority of its equity in Nuvei to Advent International. Marie-Soleil has published various articles, spoken on a variety of taxation topics and assisted in writing and editing tax publications in collaboration with Thompson Reuters. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Université Laval (2010) and a Master’s degree in Taxation from the Université de Sherbrooke, and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian International Fiscal Association and the Canadian Tax Foundation. She was called to the Quebec bar in 2012.
