Marina Sampson is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, specializing in class actions, complex commercial arbitrations, lawsuits, and injunctive relief. She has extensive experience defending clients in the infrastructure, e-commerce, and transportation sectors and has appeared before courts in Ontario, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. Marina has successfully represented Amazon in competition class actions, securing the enforcement of its arbitration clause (upheld by the BC Court of Appeal), The Salvation Army in a judicial review (upheld by the Ontario Court of Appeal), and Audible Books against class action certification and enforced its arbitration clause (upheld by the BC Court of Appeal). She also secured province-wide injunctive relief for Canadian National Railway and obtained a complete dismissal for Sleeman Breweries in a $1.4 billion class action. Marina has held leadership roles in a major global law firm, is committed to Pro Bono Ontario, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Beaches Community Soccer League. Listed among Benchmark’s Top 100 Women in Litigation in Canada, Marina holds a BSc from Mount Allison University and a law degree from the University of New Brunswick. She was admitted to the Ontario bar in 2003.
