Mark leads Blakes’ Tax Controversy and Litigation Group and his practice focuses exclusively on representing taxpayers in their Canadian tax disputes. He acts for many of Canada’s and the world’s largest and most sophisticated businesses in tax-related civil litigation, administrative appeals, audit defence, and in proactively managing tax dispute risks. Mark is also an avid speaker, author, and contributor on tax controversy matters for several professional and industry groups, and he is a contributing editor of the journal Tax Litigation. He has previously served as the Chair of each of the Tax Court Bench and Bar Committee and the OBA Taxation Law Section. Earlier in his career, Mark was an appellate judicial law clerk and a tax litigator with the Department of Justice.
