Matt Saunders is a senior lawyer in Deloitte Legal Canada’s national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Group. Primarily serving clients in Ontario and the Atlantic region, Matt’s diverse practice involves proactively advising on internal privacy programs, rapidly responding to cybersecurity incidents as a breach counsel, and supporting crisis communications and notification plans. Matt also speaks frequently on the changing cybersecurity and privacy law landscape, the increasing complexity of responding to ransomware attacks, and the novel issues arising from the deployment of artificial intelligence tools in cyber resiliency programs. Recently, Matt was included in the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada. Matt is also the former Chair of the Access & Privacy Law Section (Nova Scotia) for the Canadian Bar Association. Before joining Deloitte Legal Canada, Matt was a partner at a regional law firm and began his legal career at a global firm in Toronto. Prior to law, Matt had a successful consulting practice in Vancouver, where he managed public health security projects for clients across North America.
