Matthew Bernardo is a partner in Gowling WLG's Toronto Office and is a member of the infrastructure and construction industry group. He has represented a broad range of clients across the infrastructure and projects space – including procurement agencies, owners, equity developers, contractors, and service providers/facility managers. He advises clients at all stages of the project life cycle, under a variety of project delivery models and across many infrastructure subsectors. Before joining Gowling WLG, he acted as North American counsel for a multinational infrastructure and construction company headquartered in Spain. In this role, he advised the organization on legal, commercial, and financing aspects of its major infrastructure project pursuits in North America under both traditional and alternative delivery models. Prior to that, he was a partner in the Toronto corporate and infrastructure practice group of a large international law firm. There he advised clients on a broad range of infrastructure and construction projects, as well as corporate and M&A transactions. Harnessing his broad experience, he brings practical sector know-how and a strategic business perspective to his clients. He holds also holds the chartered financial analyst designation.
